Respiratory Therapist To Enter 4th District Race
posted April 2, 2006

Don Strong, a registered respiratory therapist at Cumberland Medical Center, 10-year veteran of the United States Army, and long-time resident of Crossville, announced his candidacy for the office of U.S. Representative 4th Congressional District in the Republican Primary to be held on Aug. 3.

The Strong campaign said:

* Strong supports our troops and believes in a strong national Defense.
* Strong believes in God and country, and promises to stand for what is in the best interest of the 4th District.
* Strong pledges to represent senior citizens, and is against reductions in benefits for our seniors.
* Strong is for advanced and affordable healthcare. As a working professional in the healthcare industry, he recognizes and understands the importance of access to quality, affordable healthcare for all.
* Strong is convinced that we are not prepared for a possible bird flu pandemic and pledges to address the shortage of ventilators and respiratory therapists.
* Strong supports foreign aid but believes that charity begins at home. He questions sending billions of taxpayer dollars overseas in foreign aid before the needy in our own country, state and district are served.
* Strong believes in supporting economic growth and will promote new business and employment opportunities throughout our district. Strong is against sending our jobs overseas when jobs are needed here at home.
* Strong is pro-education at all levels and believes that access to a quality education is key to our children’s success and our district’s economic future.
* Strong believes it is the people who make this country great and what makes the state of Tennessee exceptional. He believes the elected representatives of the people have a God-given duty and responsibility to serve faithfully and honestly.

Don Strong has been a Crossville resident for over 25 years. He has been married for 29 years to Anna Strong, daughter of Andrew and Lora Waller, also of Crossville. Don and Anna have three daughters: Jennifer Strong, Megan Strong, Sarah Strong; and one grandson, Donald Andrew Joseph Strong.
