3 Sessions Judges Unopposed As Deadline Passes

Six Republican candidates from Hamilton County are in the running for the House District 31 seat being given up by Rep. Bo Watson so he can run for the state Senate.
Randy Fairbanks, John McDougal, Ed Warren, David Norton, Jeff Lewis and Chris Lanier qualified for the House 31 seat. In Rhea County, Republican James B. Cobb of Spring City is a candidate. He is an Army veteran, TVA retiree and former treasurer of the Rhea County Republican Party.
Three General Sessions Court judges are unopposed as the deadline passed to qualify at noon on Thursday. They are Judges Bob Moon, Clarence Shattuck and Ron Durby.
Mr. McDougal and Mr. Lanier are attorneys. Mr. Fairbanks is a CPA and comptroller for a local manufacturing firm. Mr. Norton is an assistant county attorney and judge at Soddy-Daisy. Mr. Lewis is an aide to Sen. Lamar Alexander. Mr. Warren is from Sale Creek.
Rep. Watson and former Election Commissioner Wes Kliner are GOP candidates for state Senate - the seat being vacated by David Fowler. Jim Hall of Signal Mountain is a Democratic candidate.
David Bales, who was named by the County Commission to replace Mike Carter as General Sessions Judge, is opposed by attorney Hallie McFadden and prosecutor Mary Sullivan Moore. Attorney Joe Warwick, brother of Ms. Moore, had qualified, but asked for withdrawal papers.
There are five candidates for the seat being vacated by General Sessions Court Judge Richard Holcomb. They are Christie Mahn Sell, Bob Davis, Mike Acuff, Hank Hill and Randy Russell.
In municipal judge races, Mr. Norton is unopposed in Soddy-Daisy and Kevin Wilson has no opposition in Collegedale.
Attorney Johnny Houston is challenging Judge Gary Disheroon in Red Bank.
Robert Philyaw and James Kennamer are challenging Judge Mark Rothberger on Signal Mountain.
Democrat Bill Lusk and Republicans Howard Cotter and Richard Floyd are running for the House District 27 seat being vacated by Rep. Chris Clem.
Tommie Brown is again opposed by Independent Isaac Robinson in District 28.
JoAnne Favors is unopposed in District 29, Vince Dean in District 30 and Gerald McCormick in District 26.
Janice Boydston is unopposed for the District 6 County School Board seat.
Jeffrey Wilson in District 5 is opposed by William "Eli" Jones.
Everett Fairchild in District 3 has opposition from Tim Price.
Kenny Smith and Randy Gutshall are running for the District 8 seat being vacated by Debbie Colburn.
Chester Bankston and Kelvin Stamper are candidates for the District 9 seat being vacated by Marty Puryear.
For the five seats on the Lookout Mountain Commission, there are five candidates, including incumbents Dan Crates and Edward "Billy" Mitchell. Other contenders are Carol A. Mutter, Greg Brown and William H. Moses.
For the three seats as Lookout Mountain School Directors, candidates are incumbents Grant Law, Jim Haley and Sherry Pollock.
