Sen. David Fowler To Head New Pro-Family Group
Aims To "Strengthen And Protect Families"
posted April 25, 2006

Focus on the Family on Tuesday announced the formation of the Family Action Council of Tennessee (FACT), which will strengthen the family in Tennessee through education and advocacy. Retiring state Sen. David Fowler, R-Signal Mountain, will serve as its first executive director.

“We are delighted to announce the formation of the Family Action Council of Tennessee as the 33rd family policy council,” said Brad Miller, a family policy council representative for Focus on the Family. “Sen. Fowler is well known across this state for his support of the family and the moral values that promote a culture conducive to building strong families. We are thankful that he is willing to bring his considerable personal, legal, and political skills to FACT, and we believe his service will provide the kind of credibility that will allow FACT to quickly become effective and well-respected.”

Sen. Fowler, who surprised many with his decision not to seek a fourth term a few weeks ago, expressed excitement for this new opportunity.

“When the chance presented itself to focus full-time on strengthening and protecting Tennessee's families – which is what originally motivated me to run for office - I knew this was the next step for me,” said Sen. Fowler, who has served in the state Senate since 1994. “I have loved serving in the Legislature, but I am looking forward to a new challenge.

“We are excited about the launch of the Family Action Council as an organization dedicated to standing in the gap on behalf of Tennessee's families," Sen. Fowler said. "Our mission is to strengthen and protect families by providing resources and by advocating for sound public policy that will benefit families, marriages and children.

"We look forward to partnering with Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council to defend marriage, life and religious liberty in our great state."
