Hundreds Tour New Legacy Funeral Home
by Adam Clagg
posted May 1, 2006

Hundreds of invited guests gathered for Legacy Funeral Home's open house on Sunday. Funeral Directors Cade and Shawn Williamson, formerly of Williamson and Sons Funeral Home, welcomed community and religious leaders, along with friends and family. Each woman who entered was given a red rose.

The dedication service was led by Rev. Mitch McClure. He acknowledged the attendance of community leaders such as County Commissioners Fred Skillern, Curtis Adams and Charlotte Vandergriff, State Rep. Bo Watson, Soddy-Daisy Mayor Les Jewell and Soddy-Daisy City Manager Janice Cagle. Many area pastors were also present at the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony.

Rev. Marcus Clagg, senior pastor of Covenant Free Will Baptist Church, was present and opened the ceremony with prayer. Legacy is located at 8911 Dallas Hollow Road, the former site of Covenant Free Will Baptist Church. The funeral home purchased the building from Covenant last year when the church moved to its current Hixson Pike location. Many members and former members of the church were in attendance and were impressed by the renovations.

The funeral home has three family rooms, a spacious chapel, burial selection services and a complete cremation center. The entire 13,000 square foot facility is beautifully decorated. Rev. McClure mentioned that the furnishings and artwork were purchased from Broadway Furniture in Soddy-Daisy. Mr. Broadway was present at the dedication.

Williamson and Sons Funeral Home was started by Cade Williamson's grandfather, the late Jimmy Williamson. Cade is the son of Chuck Williamson, manager of Williamson and Sons Funeral Home. Williamson and Sons is now owned by Carriage Services.
