WTCI Lights, Camera, Auction Is May 18-21, June 1-4
posted May 10, 2006

The WTCI "Lights, Camera, Auction" is set for May 18-21 and June 1-4.

"Lights, Camera, Auction" broadcasts live on WTCI beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and at 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Offering a signature blend of live television excitement and bidding and buying action, the WTCI Auction is the Tennessee Valley's favorite way to support quality PBS programming while shopping at home for both the practical and the unusual: from tickets to toys, travel to timepieces and more, said officials.

"Our annual spring auction gives our viewers the opportunity to purchase unique, one-of-a-kind items, as well as practical items they use everyday while supporting their local PBS station, WTCI," said Paul Grove, WTCI President and Chief Executive Officer. "It's an exciting, interactive way to help WTCI continue to broadcast the outstanding national and local programs our members depend on."

During the eight evening broadcast, viewers will be able to bid by phone or online at www.pbsauctions.com on over 5,000 items and services. All items have been donated by local, regional and national businesses and individuals. The value of the items exceeds $500,000.

Among the highlights of this year's WTCI spring auction are "getaway" packages at several hotels and bed & breakfast inns, jewelry, original artwork by local and regional artists, fine handcrafts, toys, home decor, collectibles, food and entertainment packages, and "one-size-fits-all" gift certificates.

Featured items up for bid include a Chattanooga wedding package, valued at $4,800; a hand-blown glass vessel, valued at $5,000, from Glass by James Michael; full-school tuition for the massage therapy program, valued at $7,000, from Tennessee School of Massage; and a romantic cruise for two on the Danube River, valued at $4,598, from Viking River Cruises.

Auction items may be viewed and bids can be made now at pbsauctions.com.

The WTCI "Lights, Camera, Auction" underwriters include the following: Chattanooga Coca-Cola Bottling, Chattanooga Sewing Machine Center and Chattem.
