Election Office Still Waiting For New Touchscreens posted June 12, 2006 The election office has ordered new touchscreen voting equipment for every precinct, but they have not yet arrived, administrator Bud Knowles said. Mr. Knowles said the equipment was due the first of June from the Diebold firm. Mr. Knowles said time is becoming of the essence because the Aug. 3 election is approaching. He said election workers need to be trained on the new machines. The equipment is designed as an aide to voters with disabilities, including those with vision and hearing problems, Mr. Knowles said. The cost was $366,562 and was covered by the federal government. |
