Life Member Of Sertoma Club Receives Highest Honor

Curtis Revels has been honored as Sertoman of the Year by the Downtown Chattanooga Chapter of the Sertoma Club.

Sertoma's highest award is bestowed upon an outstanding member who is exemplary in every aspect of the organization's ideals and goals.

As a Sertoman, Mr. Revels was instrumental in the development of the local club's annual "Down to Earth: Lawn and Garden Show." The successful fundraising event, now in its sixth year, contributes approximately $10,000 each year to the Speech and Hearing Center and other local charities including The Child Advocacy Center, Catholic Ministries, Bethel Bible Village, YCAP and others.

As a life member of the Downtown Chapter of Sertoma, having been a member since 1975, Mr. Revels has served as District Governor, President, Board Member, various committees including Membership and is now serving the local club as Secretary and Coordinator of the Lawn and Garden Show.

Gary Coley, past President of the club, said, "Curtis' accomplishments and outstanding leadership skills have exceeded those of the average Sertoman, in both his personal and professional lives. It was a pleasure to name him Sertoman of the Year."

The Downtown Chattanooga Sertoma Club meets each Thursday at noon at the Chattanooga Choo Choo. Sertoma is a civic club whose goals are SERvice TO MANkind. The local club hosts two major fundraising events each year: The Sertoma Golf Tournament to be held Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Windstone, and the Lawn and Garden Show to be held in March.

Headquartered and founded in Kansas City, MO in 1912, Sertoma is a not-for-profit international organization with 20,000 members in clubs across Canada, Mexico, Puerto Pico, and the United States. Every year Sertoma Clubs raise more than $20 million for local community service projects. Through these projects, as well as grants and scholarships, Sertoma clubs return those funds to their respective communities.
