Bredesen Says He Plans To Resume Regular Schedule Soon
posted August 25, 2006

Gov. Phil Bredesen plans to resume a regular schedule soon, his political re-election campaign said Friday.

The campaign said, "Gov. Bredesen and First Lady Andrea Conte relay their deepest appreciation to supporters across Tennessee for the thousands of emails, letters and phone calls wishing him well and a speedy recovery from a sudden illness."

Last week, Bredesen was admitted to Nashville's Centennial Medical Center for treatment of flu-like symptoms caused by an apparent tick bite. On the advice of his doctors, the governor this week traveled to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., for additional tests as a precautionary measure.

The campaign said, "He returned home late Thursday evening and is steadily recovering, and intends to resume a regular schedule shortly."

Officials said the governor has asked campaign volunteers "to keep moving 'full-steam ahead' in preparation for a Nov. 7 re-election victory."

"I'm proud of the way our statewide operation really has stepped up over the past few days despite the fact that I've been temporarily sidelined," Bredesen said. "It's gratifying to see this level of support. I look forward to seeing you all on the campaign trail soon."
