Mr. Bentley and his nephew, Cassanova Lee, approached the vehicle. The man inside the car ran off, but they detained Cook until police arrived. Deandrea Cooper of Wilder Street said she came home to find someone had broken in. She was missing a color TV, an X-Box game system and an X-Box video game. A man across the street said he saw two black males at the house earlier. He said one came out carrying a game system. He said they got into a burgundy late 1980s model Chrysler LeBaron convertible with a rusty colored top and no hubcaps. Officials at the Brainerd Wal-Mart said Petra James was seen leaving the store carrying bags of items she had not paid for. She had checked out at the self-help line. She was charged after police said she did not scan $30 in food items. Officials of Eckerds on Brainerd Road said a man left with a bag of shirts he did not pay for. The man, who got away with about $25 worth of merchandise, could not be found. At FYE at 5000 Hixson Pike, officials said two young white males who appeared to be between 13 and 15 took four X-Box games and ran out of the store. They also had a bigger item with them that store officials did not identify. The X-Box games are worth $60 each. Eric Sims said while he was inside a barber shop on Roanoke Avenue a black male stole a blower from his work trailer. He said the suspect was in a two-ton Ford pickup truck. Also, there were three air conditioners that had been kicked in. Debra Baker said someone broke into her Nissan Pathfinder on Gunbarrel Road and took her tan leather shoulder bag that she had placed under the floor mat on the passenger side. The purse contained three checkbooks from three different accounts, a Louis Vitton wallet and $5. Ms. Baker called her credit card companies and found someone had already been using the cards. Police said a white male with his dark hair worn in a ponytail made a purchase of $187 at the BI-LO on Lee Highway with one of the cards. Felix Bellicos of S. Hawthorne Street returned home to find his home had been invaded. He is missing a guitar, keyboard and stereo. The padlock was removed and $920 was missing. Patricia Henry Anderson said she was just entering her vehicle at 6951 Lee Highway when she heard footsteps and saw a black male staring at her. She said the man tried to grab her purse and she began yelling and screaming. She said she struggled with the man and he eventually let go, then got into a dark blue SUV with another black male. The tag came back to a woman who lives on Whetstone Lane in Ooltewah. A man who witnessed the incident followed the SUV for several blocks and got the tag number. Don Lewis said he saw a black male and white male riding bicycles steal an aluminum light pole from a city parks and recreation construction site on Riverfront Parkway. He said he followed them to a scrap yard, where they tried to sell the light pole. Mr. Lewis said he confronted them and they left before police arrived. They told him they had found the pole. Police arrived at a burglary in progress on Riverside Drive when a caller said two black males were trying to steal an air conditioning unit from his business. An officer took the men into custody after finding them loading the unit onto a trailer. They said they planned to take the unit, which is worth $3,000, to the scrap yard. A woman on 12th Avenue said she was awakened by a noise and saw an intruder in her bedroom. She raised up in bed and the young black male ran out. The woman said she later found that her purse was missing. Christy Lee told police that Ramondo Leaster stole money from her bra while they were having sex.
