TWRC September Meeting In Nashville
Hatcheries & Elk Hunt Status on Agenda

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission will meet in Nashville, September 27 and 28 at the Region II Ray Bell Office Building at the Ellington Agricultural Center.

Committee meetings will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27 with the full commission meeting beginning at 9 a.m. on September 28. The public is invited to attend.

Among the topics on the agenda are reports concerning the status of the TWRA warm and coldwater fish hatcheries, recommended changes to the Commercial Fishing Proclamation, 06-22, to end the paddlefish season on March 31 and establish a quota of eighty roe taker's permits annually.

The status of the agency plans for permitting elk hunts on the Royal Blue and Sundquist wildlife management areas will be discussed.

Also on the agenda are reports on the planning for the possibility of avian influenza occurring in Tennessee, an update of license buying trends of participants in the state’s Scholastic Clay Target Program, and a progress report regarding the agency’s Tennessee’s Wild Side television program, now in its sixth year on public television stations throughout the state. The Commission will also consider proposed changes to party hunt regulations on the Cherokee WMA.

A preliminary meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 26, at 3 p.m. in the main conference room of the TWRA building, located in the Ellington Agricultural Center, where the Ad Hoc Marketing Committee will discuss TWRA marketing efforts. A preliminary Budget Committee meeting will be held at the same location on Wednesday morning, September 27, at 9 a.m.
