Man Starts Apartment Fire With Whiskey And Propane
posted September 28, 2006

A man was arrested Wednesday evening after allegedly starting an apartment fire with a bottle of whiskey and a propane tank.

Officers with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office responded to 1750 East Boy Scout Road where a witness advised that Dale Garner had set the detached apartment on fire and was attempting to leave. Officers quickly got to the suspect, who was trying to leave on a dirt bike, and placed him in custody.

The witness advised officers that Garner started the fire with a bottle of whiskey, then threw a propane tank into it.

The Dallas Bay Fire Department responded and put the fire out.

The damage to the apartment is estimated at $20,000. The house did have minor damage to the vinyl siding.

Garner was transported to the Hamilton County Jail and charged with aggravated arson and resisting arrest.
