Rhea County's Hunter Green Wins AAA State Golf Title In Playoff

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Rhea County junior Hunter Green defeated Bolton junior Jack Belote in a playoff Wednesday and won the Class AAA state golf championship.

Green and Belote each shot 70-71--141 for the two-day tournament at the Old Fort Course.

It was the second straight state title for Green, who made a par on the first playoff hole to secure the win.

First-day leader Kyle Cothran, a Soddy-Daisy senior, finished at 69-78--147. Soddy-Daisy junior Cody Sunderland finished at 72-76--148.

Clarksville won the boys team championship with a 588. Soddy-Daisy finished fifth at 612.

Farragut won the girls team championship at 190, and Farragut's Erika Thornton (71-71--142) took the individual title.

Soddy-Daisyh's Lindsay Taylor, a senior, finished at 76-78--154.
