Habitat for Humanity Celebrates Completion Of Supper Home
posted October 14, 2006

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga, Nicki Hughes and her family on Saturday will celebrate the completion of her new Habitat for Humanity home funded by the Square Foot Supper held earlier this year.

“The Square Foot Supper is an annual special event that supports the construction of at least one home a year,” said Jan Varnell, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga. “Franklin and Catharine Daniels chaired the dinner last April, and a large group of dedicated volunteers helped make the event possible.”

“Helping a family have a home is very gratifying,” said Franklin Daniels. “Catharine and I are proud of having helped make this possible through the supper. All of the effort involved in the supper pales with satisfaction of knowing that the lives of a family are changed forever.’

“Nicki has been very faithful about working on her own home and is very excited about what this will mean for her family,” said Ms. Varnell. “She has expressed to me her appreciation for all of the volunteer efforts and Habitat’s support in her journey towards homeownership.”

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga is a faith-based non-profit organization working to provide simple, decent and affordable homes for low-income families. Since 1986, it has completed 190 homes, thanks to community support.
