Corker Donates Another $1.35 Million To Senate Campaign posted November 1, 2006 Former Chattanooga Mayor Bob Corker has put another $1.35 million of his own money into his tight U.S. Senate race against Democrat Harold Ford Jr. Corker earlier put $650,000 into the Ford contest. That goes along with $2.167 million he donated during the primary campaign. Ford for Tennessee Senior Advisor Michael Powell said, “Two important things happened in the U.S. Senate race today. “Harold Ford Jr., was joined by thousands of cheering Tennesseans in Memphis, Clarksville, and Murfreesboro, taking action to bring real change to our nation, while Bob Corker sat at a desk by himself and wrote a check. “That tells you all you need to know about the state of the Senate race in Tennessee. Bob Corker has run nothing but a negative campaign for four months. He has no vision for change, and no ideas for the future. As a result, there is no one left to pay for his smears - but himself. “Anyone who games the system to put $5 million into his campaign is in big trouble, because Tennesseans' votes are not for sale." |
