Employee Of Rossville Boulevard BBQ Place Robbed At Gunpoint, Hit In Head posted November 3, 2006 An employee of a barbeque restaurant on Rossville Boulevard was robbed at gunpoint, hit in the head and locked in a cooler on Thursday. Steve Miller of Chubby's Barbeque, 3801 Rossville Blvd., said he was getting out of his vehicle when he was approached by a black male about 5'8" and 190 pounds wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. The man, who was holding a small black handgun, told him, "I want the money." Mr. Miller said he handed over his wallet containing $80, his driver's license and Social Security card. He said the man forced him inside Chubby's and directed him to give him the restaurant's cash. He said when he told the man he did not know the combination to the safe, the man hit him in the head with the gun. He said the man made him carry the 80-pound safe outside to the west side of the restaurant. He then forced him back inside and locked him in the cooler. Mr. Miller said he waited in the cooler for about a minute, then was able to get out and call police. Officers found the safe in nearby woods. The money was still inside. Mr. Miller's car keys were also found, but not his wallet. |
