Ooltewah's Elrod Commits To Calhoun Community College
posted November 22, 2006

Brandon Elrod signed papers Tuesday morning, committing to continue his baseball career at Calhoun Community College in Decatur, Alabama. He is the second player from Ooltewah to do so this year, following the decision of Alex Napier earlier this fall. They will be joining former Owl, Tim Markum who is a freshman at Calhoun this year.

Brandon Elrod, a transfer from Riverside Academy, will be playing some 3rd base, shortstop, and pitching for the Ooltewah Owls this Spring. According to Owls Coach John Massey Elrod has a good range and good foot speed.

"Coach Morrill from Calhoun expects Elrod to come in and play right away," said Coach Massey. "He is just that kind of impact player."

Elrod had also considered playing for Chattanooga State and Cleveland State, but the influence of Napier, and his praise of Coach Morrill helped to make his decision.

"Alex loves Coach Morrill and only has good things to say about him. He is a people person and very good with the players."

Coach Massey expects Brandon to be an asset to his team this fall and then looks forward to future success for him as a Warhawk with Calhoun State.

"He is a good student," Coach Massey said. "He is a big strong kid. I know Brandon will do well and be happy there."
