3 Children Die In South Pittsburg House Fire posted December 13, 2006 Three children, all under the age of two, died in a fire late Tuesday night at a house in South Pittsburg, Tenn., according to officials. The victims were listed as two 9-month-old twin girls and a boy who was due to turn two in February. Authorities said the call came in on a fire at a duplex on Oak Street about midnight. There were three adults in the duplex with the children who made it out safely. Two other adults from the other duplex unit also got out. Authorities said it appeared the fire was caused by a space heater. A man reportedly ran into the house to alert the occupants that it was on fire. Attempts to rescue the children by neighbors were unsuccessful. The bodies of the children were sent to Nashville for autopsies. |
