Report: City Finalist For Toyota Plant Decision May Be Announced By End Of The Month posted January 4, 2007 Chattanooga's Enterprise South is a finalist for a new Toyota plant, the Wall Street Journal is reporting. The newspaper said Toyota Motor Corp. may select a location in the South for its eighth North American assembly plant. The report said Toyota is looking at 3-5 locations, including Chattanooga. Other sites mentioned are near Alamo, Tn., and Marion, Ark. The Wall Street Journal said the new plant would be able to produce 200,000 vehicles per year. It would go into production in 2009. One of the vehicles it would likely produce would be the next-generation Toyota Highlander sport-utility vehicle. It might also build a tall station wagon called the Ace that is like the Chrysler Pacifica, according to the Wall Street Journal article. |
