The UTC Music Department kicks off it's fall concert season with a recital titled "Peter Cooper and Friends: All Brahms!" Roland Hayes Concert Hall of the UTC Fine Arts Center, (corner of Palmetto and Vine St.) 7:30 p.m. and is open to the general public free of charge.

Sept. 5
Free Nightfall concert at Miller Plaza. Blue Mountain with opening act Uncle Lightin'. 7 p.m.


Sept. 6
17th Sun (hard rock) and The Unsatisfied (punk rock) at Midtown Music Hall, 818 Georgia Ave. Doors open at 8 p.m. $8 cover. 18 and older.

Free Nightfall concert at Miller Plaza. BasiaBulat with opening act Land Camera. 7 p.m.

Sept. 13
CSO 75th Anniversary Concert & Celebration with Stella Zambalis. 8 p.m., Tivoli Theatre. The CSO will showcase classical, opera and pops music in a concert with soprano Stella Zambalis, followed by a birthday party. Black-tie optional. Chonda Pierce with Special Guest Leland Klassen. Memorial Auditorium, 7:30 p.m. DMI Concerts presents the popular Christian comedienne in her all-new 2008 comedy tour. Destiny Theatre Company and VIA Theatrical present Why A Sistah Can't Get No Love?! Opens at the Encore Theatre, 3264 Brainerd Road, on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. Saturday performances start at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.; Sunday performances at 5 p.m. Admission is $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Seniors and groups of 10+ $12.50. Tickets are now on sale.

Sept. 14
A night of live acoustic music from singer songwriters accompanied by a silent auction and food drive for Zimbabwe relief. The main performer is Shane and Shane; a powerful duet whose latest album, Pages, reached No. 11 on the iTunes Top Album Chart. Bethany Dillon, recently married to Shane Bernard, will also be performing.
7 p.m. at Memorial Auditorium’s Community Theatre at 399 McCallie Ave. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale at World Next Door located near the Market Street Bridge downtown by the Tennessee River. They can also be purchased online at www.shaneandshane.com. Advance tickets are $10. The day of the event, tickets will still be $10 for students and groups but will be $15 for all others. Everyone is invited to bring a bag of rice for the food drive. Sponsored by World Next Door (a fair trade store) and Jim and Monique’s Team (a local real estate team).
