Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair was shot and killed. Police said he was shot in the head in downtown Nashville. A woman companion was also killed in the incident on Second South and Lea Avenue. McNair was the quarterback for the Titans from 1998 to 2005, then he played for the Baltimore Ravens before retiring in 2008. He was an All American at Alcorn State University and had an outstanding game in Chattanooga against the UTC Mocs.
Woman, Granddaughter Escape "Deliberately Set" Fire
A woman and her granddaughter escaped a burning house in North Chattanooga early Saturday morning. The incident was at 2209 Bachman St. The woman told firefighters that she was in bed asleep when she woke to a “popping noise.” She got out of bed to investigate, but when she did not find anything, she went back to bed.
