A Marion County man is facing a federal weapons charge after a search warrant was executed at his residence at 1305 Hickory Ave. in South Pittsburg.

The charge was brought against Edward Mckissick.

Police went to the residence on March 11 to execute an arrest warrant. They found the front door ajar and Mckissick asleep.

Officers said they smelled and observed marijuana in plain view.

A search turned up seven pounds of marijuana, 15 grams of powder cocaine, 117 Xanax tablets, 60 rounds of Winchester 9mm ammunition, 24 rounds of NCDP ammunition, three rounds of Remington 9mm ammunition, and a bulletproof vest.

Agents said Mckissick has a felony drug conviction in Marion County and a federal conviction for acting as an accessory after the fact to an armed bank robbery in Pennsylvania. He was prohibited from being around guns or ammunition.
