Ellen Boehm Bailey, 88, of North Augusta, S.C., wife of 63 years to Major George D. Bailey, U.S. Army Retired, died Monday morning, Feb. 23, 2004, at North Augusta, S.C.

Born in Bronx, N.Y., a daughter of the late Walter and Mary Bulger Boehm, she had been a resident of North Augusta, S.C. for 36 years where she attended Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and was a homemaker.

In addition to her husband, a son, James D. “Jim” Bailey, Aiken, S.C.; daughter, Beverly Bailey Sniffin, Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Bailey will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, North Augusta, S.C., with The Reverend Sandy McDonald celebrant.

Interment will be private.

The family has asked that memorials be made to the Walter E. Boehm Birth Defects Center, 975 E. 3rd St., Chattanooga, TN 37403

George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.
