Lee Boykin, 65, died on Friday, March 4, 2005, in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Boykin was born in Cleveland, TN, but had lived in the Chattanooga area for several years. He was of the Baptist faith.

In his more active years he worked at Dunlap Industries in Dunlap, TN, and later as a salesman for various companies. He was a graduate of the University of Chattanooga.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Opal Maupin Boykin and Lee Boykin, and his wife, Shirley Osborne Boykin.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Semmes and her husband, Rocky; two granddaughters, Ginna and Hannah, of Alexandria, VA; a sister, Gincy Cody and her husband, Gilbert; a special aunt, Joyce Maupin; an uncle, Kermit Maupin and his wife, Lillian, of Cleveland; one nephew, Dr. Jim Davenport of Johnson City, TN; several cousins; and a special friend, Judy Peterson of Chattanooga.

A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. at Chattanooga Memorial Park with the Rev. Suzanne Smitherman officiating.

The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4355 Highway 58, Suite 101, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
