Willie M. Dozier, 76, of Chattanooga, died Saturday, April 9, 2005, in a local hospital.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was employed by U.S. Steel Company and retired after 33 years of service. He also was employed by the state of Illinois and retired after 10 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Zella York Dozier, parents, five brothers and five sisters.
Survivors are four sons, Edward Drake, Labron (Lisa) Gustus and Daryl (Selena) Dozier, all of Chattanooga, and Barnett Dozier, of Chicago; daughter, Dottie (Anthony) Benjamin, of Baltimore, Md.; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Clifford (Ganelle) Dozier, of Daleville, Ala., Eugene (Winifred) Dozier, and Lee (Gloria) Dozier, both of Chattanooga, and John (Johnetta) Dozier, of Maryland; sisters, Daisy (the late Glover) Jackson and Mary (the late Hardy) Knowles, of Chickamauga, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Mary Dozier and Addie Dozier, both of Chattanooga; brothers-in-law, Kay Williams, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Dunbar Marsh, of Chickamauga, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with John Taylor Sr. officiating.
Burial is in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
