Reva Kelley Pope, 90, of Chattanooga Valley, died on Saturday, July 30, 2005, from complications due to Alzheimer’s.
She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga Valley and an active member of Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Pope, infant son, James Pope, parents, Jess and Hester Kelley, sisters, Margaret Simmons and Audrey Catlett, and brother, Forrest Kelley.
Reva worked outside the home briefly at Marmode Hosiery and was a substitute teacher at Chattanooga Valley Elementary and High School.
She was a dedicated volunteer and was an officer in many clubs and organizations; most notable was her 8000 volunteer hours at Hutcheson Medical Center Auxiliary.
Reva is survived by her son, Darrell Pope (Becky), Rossville; daughter, Jacqueline Kelley (Tom), Hampshire, TN; sister, Jessie Hipp (Bill), East Ridge; brother, Randall Kelley (Edna), St. Petersburg, FL; three granddaughters, Cynthia Nieman, Sandra Ross and Elizabeth Maynor, and one grandson, Kelley Pope. The delight of her life were her three great granddaughters, Becca Maynor, Emma Nieman and Claire Ross.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church with burial to follow at Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church Building Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory.
