The Arts and Education Council and the Hunter Museum of American Art present the second movie of the Chattanooga Summer Film Series on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m. in the museum auditorium.
This week's feature film is “Jezebel,” a Bette Davis film that filmmakers hoped would be as big as "Gone with the Wind" and which earned Ms. Davis her second academy award. Dr. Chris Holmlund, chair of cinema studies at UTK will speak about the film. Mary Phlaum, film aficionado and museum administrator said, “This is one Hunter Happens you will not want to miss. Seeing “Jezebel” years ago made me want to be a Southern Belle. Now I find myself living in Tennessee and fulfilling that goal. Seriously, this is a great film that everyone will enjoy.”
"Three Conversations on the Value of Pop Culture in a Young Adult Society" a film about three couples arguing over the minutia of their pop culture-filled youths as they try to connect with each other in this offbeat look at modern relationships, will be shown first. This short was created by Chattanoogans Ryan DiGiorgi and Logan Lee. The reception for the program begins at 6 p.m. with the films starting at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per person or $3 with a Hunter membership or an AEC film card.
