James Bret Oakey, 28, of Ooltewah, died on Monday, March 20, 2006.
He was a former Tyner High School student and later went on to work as a carpenter in and around the Chattanooga area. James loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Gayle Oakey.
He is survived by his maternal grandparents, Pruett and Virginia Brown; paternal grandparents, Gordon and Mildred Oakey; sister, Jennifer Schafluetzel, brother-in-law, Kevin Schafluetzel; niece, Lilly Schafluetzel; nephew, Keegan Schafluetzel; uncle and aunt, Danny and Karen "Chic" Brown; three uncles, Alan Brown, Butch Oakey, John Oakey; aunt, Connie McCaleb; cousins, Weston Brown, Chase Brown, Chelle McCaleb, Samantha Brown, Sarah Brown, Shayne McCaleb; and his fiancee' of five years, Leslie Gass.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Raleigh Wooten officiating.
