Andrew Thomas Painter, 84, of Hixson, died on Thursday, June 29, 2006. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Andrew was a U. S. Naval veteran who served on the USS San Jacinto. He was a member of the Melville Baptist Church and retired from the Carpenter’s Local # 74 with over 50 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Painter, mother, Athie "Big Mama" Painter, his wife, Geraldine Painter, daughter, Linda Inglis and son-in-law, Joseph Drake.
Andrew is survived by his children, Tommy Painter of Tennessee, Billy Painter and wife Kathy of Griswold, CT, Peggy Drake of Red Bank, Janice Nance of Signal Mountain, Don Painter of Dunlap, and Nancy Painter of Soddy Daisy; grandchildren, Joe Drake, Melissa Painter-Canova, Amy Fletcher, Becky Moore, Chris Drake, Josh Painter, Jeremy Painter, Jacob Painter, Dewayne Painter and Sandra Mayberry; and numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chris O’Keefe and Rev. Warren Beavers officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Joe Drake, Chris Drake, Josh Painter, Jeremy Painter and Jacob Painter serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Allen Vickery and Arvil Perrin.
The family will receive friends from 4–9 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m.–2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Melville Baptist Church.
