Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga has awarded 40 local students college scholarships, totaling $40,000, for the 2006-2007 academic year.
Scholarships for entering freshmen went to Angela Jones, Ambbar Lopez, Trina Matthews and Clinton Epperson of Cleveland High School, Darshan Mithaiwala and Jessica Moses of McMinn Central, Suzanna Ker and Jeremy Williams of Ooltewah High School, Megan Kimsey and Emily Trew of Polk County, Demario Butts of 21st Century, Kristen Wolfe of Boyd-Buchanan, Breon Thomas of Brainerd High School, Autumn Cain, Brittany Lightfoot, Latosha Powell, Tiffany Smith, Abraham Thomas, Katrich Williams, Lovely Mathai, Toby Thomas, Felicia Moore and Antonio Smith of Tyner High School, Jennyfer Gomez, Raquel Rodriguez and Nguyet Tran of Dalton High School, Amanda Harris, Jessica Holcomb and Pooja Soni of LFO, Parker Aziz and Christine Hawes of Ringgold High School, Justin Dykes of Grundy County, Kenya Fritz of Howard, Hollie Burrage and Christina Whitten of Lafayette, Ashley Sharp of Marion County, Ashely Frazier and Amanda Robinson of Pisgah High School, Tayler Bolton of Rhea County and Cody Swallows of Soddy-Daisy High School.
Ronald McDonald House Charities scholarships are based on financial need, academic achievement and community service. To date, Chattanooga’s Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship Program has awarded more than $160,000 to freshmen year students. Local McDonald’s restaurants donate the funds for the program from the sale of paper flags beginning Memorial Day through July 4, in the restaurants.
