Rock Point Books will host several events this week. On Wednesday, Dec. 12, Ron Bliss, author of Ray Mears' Big Orange Memories, will hold a reading and signing beginning at 7 p.m. On Thursday, Dec. 13, Gov. The NorthShore Merchants Collective is sponsoring a toy and food drop to benefit the Northside Neighborhood House and their efforts to help those less fortunate during this holiday season. This is the final week for two great productions at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre. A Holiday Homecoming, an original musical featuring gospel, bluegrass, and traditional Christmas music - including two original songs - will be presented Thursday through Sunday. The Youth Theatre's presentation of the classic story of Sleeping Beauty comes to a fairy-tale ending with three final performances Friday through Sunday. Football icon Bill Curry will be the principal speaker this Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Greater Chattanooga Fellowship of Christian Athletes Championship Breakfast at the Chattanooga Convention & Trade Center. The Chattanooga History Center will present Downtown Lights: Remembering Christmas in Chattanooga 1876-2007 at 7 p.m. on Dec. 20, at the English Rose Tea Room. The fee of $7 includes a dessert and unlimited hot tea or coffee. The instructor is the Museum's Curator, Dr. Daryl Black. The registration deadline is this Friday, Dec. 14. The Zoo invites owners and pets this Friday, Dec. 14, from 5:30-8 p.m., to celebrate the holidays with red pandas, green geckos and all the rest of the animals during Holiday Lights. The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera continues its tradition of bringing audiences "Home for the Holidays" with its Holiday Pops concert at the Tivoli Theatre this Saturday and Sunday. This annual performance offers a unique opportunity to hear the world premiere of Chattanooga composer George S. Clinton's "The Santa Clause Suite" from The Santa Clause 2: The Mrs. Clause.
