Tom Losh, principal at Bradley Central High School for five years, is retiring at the end of the school year.
"I've enjoyed every minute of my 35 years in public education, but I am kind of excited about heading in a new direction."
Mr. Losh, a native of Mason, Ohio, who came to Chattanooga as a basketball star for the Mocs, said he plans to spend more time with his family, including his elderly mother. He also plans to help his son, Nick, in his construction business.
His wife, Teresa, is also taking a new direction. She will be retiring at Hunter Middle School and taking a position in the Catoosa County, Ga., Schools.
Daughter Julianne (Mrs. Mason Thornburg) teaches fourth grade at Westview Elementary.
Mr. Losh was an assistant coach under Ron Shumate for four years.
He was with the Cleveland State Community College student affairs office for 16 years and was assistant vice chancellor at UTC for nine years.
Mr. Losh said, "It's been a wonderful experience, but I'm ready for a little more freedom in my life. When you are a principal, it's all day, all night and every day."
