Alma Peterson Dobbs, 88, died on Thursday, January 3, 2008.
She was a native of Iola, Kansas but had lived in the Chattanooga area since 1938. She was the widow of William Parks Dobbs, Sr. She was a member of East Ridge United Methodist Church, the Joy Circle and the Young at Heart Sunday School Class. Earlier, she was a member of Ridgedale United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Lady Shriners Asebi Court #36, The Joker Unit and the Shrine Widows and a member of Hickory Slick Chicks.
She is survived by a sister, Erma Hoggatt of Iola, Ks.; daughter, Sandra Collins and husband, Ray of Snellville, Ga.; son, William Parks, Jr. and wife, Diane of Chattanooga; daughter, Mary Campbell and husband, Ray of Mansfield, Ga.; grandchildren, Michele McAlister, Melanie Gibbs, Dauna Clinton, Moira Smith, Timothy Campbell, Patricia Dunevent, Karen Campbell and Joshua Campbell; great-grandchildren, Nicholas McAlister, Daniel Perry, Evan Clinton, Emma Clinton, Hayden Smith, Kate Smith, Timothy Campbell, Tinsley Campbell, Allyson Dunevent, Rebecca Campbell, Teja Campbell and Zane Campbell; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Ernest and Mary Ellen Peterson; brothers, Ted Peterson, Karl Peterson and Beryl Peterson; one sister, Opal Kincheloe.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist with the Rev. Samuel L. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
