Carlton "Buck" Purcell Sr., 80, of Chattanooga, died on Monday, Oct. 27, 2008.
Carlton was a longtime resident of the North Georgia area and was a member of McFarland United Methodist Church. He was in the U.S. Navy for four years, serving in the Korean War. Carlton was a city building inspector for the city of Fort Oglethorpe for ten years. He retired from C&I Construction Co., where he was a builder of commercial properties.
Carlton was preceded in death by his parents, James Truman and Sarah Lucille Purcell; brother, Harold Purcell; sisters, Edith and Katherine Purcell and Martha Castleberry.
Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Wynelle Purcell; son, Carlton "Chuck" Purcell Jr., Merced, Ca.; daughters, Lynita (Dr. Donald Paul) Hetzel, Chattanooga, Laura (Michael) Grant, Ringgold, Ga.; brothers, Bob (Frances) Purcell, Chattanooga, Jack (Kathleen) Purcell, Fort Oglethorpe; sisters, Dorothy (Bill) Marona, Bryant, Al., Carolyn Kirby, Flat Rock, Al.; grandchildren, Sarah Lynn Purcell, Amanda and Caroline Hetzel.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Michael Grant officiating. Interment will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
