Christmas has arrived at Lake Guntersville Resort State Park. This is the first Christmas the park will officially be open since having closed in March 2004 for renovations and the staff and management is going all out to make it a memorable experience for their guests. Carl Vinson, in charge of Christmas decorations at the lodge, is turning the facility into a festive wonderland sure to delight people of all ages. "We have six large wreaths, a dozen trees all decorated in a different theme, red ribbons and garland, and so much more", says Vinson.

"We will be adding live poinsettias, some outdoor decorations and other items as the season progresses", adds Vinson.

The Lodge at Lake Guntersville State Park is perched 600 feet above the 69,000 acre Guntersville Reservoir. It boasts 6 large stone fireplaces, a vaulted roof line with a stone pillared entrance, hand-hewn beams, and beautiful stone and hardwood flooring throughout.

"The lodge has already taken on a wonderful atmosphere of the Christmas season with much more to be added", says Patty Tucker, Convention Sales & Marketing Director. "Something new is blended in daily to the mix of decorations. One will want to return often just so they don't miss anything", concludes Tucker.

Decorations will remain up until the first week of January. Also during the holiday season, one will enjoy guided nature hikes every Saturday. A traditional buffet will be served in the Pinecrest Dining Room Christmas day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Contact the Lodge at 256-571-5440 or 800-548-4553 for additional information or to make plans to visit the park.
