Mildred Coffey Massengale, of Chattanooga, died on Monday, May 19, 2008.

A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Mrs. Massengale was a past member of Avondale Baptist Church and had attended Woodland Park Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Beulah Coffey; her husband of 36 years, Dan Massengale, Jr.; a daughter, Daniva Massengale and a sister, Maggie Whaley.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Betty Massengale of Ooltewah; grandchildren, Kim Goins of Hixson, David Massengale, Jr. of Trenton, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Paige and Jessica Goins of Hixson; sister, Ruby Mulkey of Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Steve McCary and Rev. Mike Bower officiating. Interment will follow at Hooker Cemetery in Wildwood, Georgia with David Massengale, Jr., Randy Headrick, John Richardson, Tim Dixon, Randy Barker and Glenn Deakins serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Woodland Park Baptist Church Building Fund, "Making Him Known", 6735 Standifer Gap Road; Chattanooga, TN 37421.

Dave, Betty and family would like to express their sincere thanks to all the wonderful caretakers at Life Care Center of Collegedale, and a special thanks to Chuck, and to the ladies of Woodland Park Baptist Church and a special thanks to Rachel Johnson.
