James Martin "Ted" Hendrix, 66, of Summerville, Ga. died Monday, October 12, 2009 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Hendrix was born February 15, 1943 in Trion, Ga., the son of the late William Raymond Hendrix and Edith Chastain Hendrix. He was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Mr. Hendrix was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Shelby Ramey; a brother, David Hendrix; and a brother-in-law, Charles Oliver.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Alred Hendrix; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Michael Hegwood, Summerville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nellie & Earl Wilbanks and Martha Oliver, all of Trion; Pam & Danny Powell, Broomtown, Ala.; grandchild, Emily Hegwood; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, the 5th Floor Nursing Staff of Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Graveside and interment services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 16, at Greenhills Memory Gardens with Bishop Danny Harkins officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the 5th Floor Nursing Staff of Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Hendrix will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 15.
The family respectfully requests no flowers and that memorials be made to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital.
