Ethel Mae McKissic, 89, of Chattanooga, died on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, in a local healthcare facility.
She was a retired school teacher with the Chattanooga City Schools and was a member of Grace Baptist Tabernacle Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Edith Gilbert; husband, Lake McKissic; daughter, Doris McKissic; son, Gilbert McKissic; sisters, Ophelia Johnson and Elvea Thurman.
Survivors are her son, Gerald (Bonnie) McKissic, of Chattanooga; four grandchildren, Anthony McKissic, of Baltimore, Md., Janel McKissic, of Lawrenceville, Ga., Sonya (Dudley) Boudkeauk, of Houston, Texas, and Vanessa (Tash) Bowder, of Dallas, Texas; four great-grandchildren; brother, Rev. Lamar (Ida Mae) Gilbert, of Chattanooga; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; devoted friends, Renee Harley, Shorrell Harley, both of Little Rock, Ar., Lisa Stansell, of Chattanooga; and a host of other friends.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m. at Grace Baptist Tabernacle Church with Pastor Marshall Robinson officiating.
Burial will be in Shepherd Community Cemetery.
Visitation is on Friday, Oct. 30, from 7-8 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
