  • Thursday, March 12, 2009

Chattanooga Room in the Inn tapped Sherri Herman to serve on its board of directors, as well as the finance committee and resource/development committee. She works as assistant manager at Northwest Georgia Bank’s Hamilton Place branch.

A local non-profit begun in 1988, Chattanooga Room in the Inn (CRITI) is a three to nine month residential program dedicated to helping homeless women and children. Services provided at CRITI are free of charge and include transitional housing, three meals a day, access to affordable or free health care, life skills training, parenting classes, mentoring, assistance with finding affordable housing, and case management services. The 24 hour-a-day program allows women and their children to find stability, thereby increasing opportunities for independence once they leave the program. Since its inception, Chattanooga Room in the Inn has helped more than 3,000 homeless women and children regain their independence with dignity and security.

Mrs. Herman began her career at Northwest Georgia Bank in January 2008 as a specialist in the centralized loan processing department. She began her career in the financial industry in 1992 as a teller at First Federal, which soon merged with AmSouth Bank, now Regions Bank. She has worked as a loan assistant at Cornerstone Community Bank, as marketing director/office manager at American Express Financial Advisors (currently Ameriprise Financial), and then as a loan processor/originator at United Capital Mortgage.

In 1998, she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. She serves as secretary/treasurer of Business Networking International-Shallowford Sunrise Chapter. She lives in Ooltewah with her husband, Perry. Their daughter, Maria, is a freshman at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
