Robert Earl Shelton, 77, of Chattanooga, died on Sunday, April 12, 2009.
He was born in Kelso, Tn., to the late Horace Alton Shelton and Mamie Jennings Shelton on Aug. 10, 1931. He retired from Hamilton Concrete, and was a member of Seventh Day Church of God in Chattanooga. He loved fishing, spending time with his family, and studying family geneology.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Glendon Earline Boyd Shelton; and his sister, Iva Bondale Honey.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Lott Shelton, of Chattanooga; daughter and son-in-law, Iva Shelton (Jimmy) York; sons and daughters-in-law, Maylon Dale (Cheryl) Shelton, of Booneville, Ms., Wendell Doyce (Mary Ann) Shelton, of Bridgeport, Al., Graylin Dennis (Sherry) Shelton, of Flat Rock, Al.; sisters, Eva Pruett, of Ringgold, Ga., Velma Rogers, of Chattanooga; brother, Raymond Shelton, of Chattanooga; 12 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, in the funeral home chapel with Major Gary Bergen officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.
The family will receive friends from 12-9 p.m. on Tuesday and prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
