Walter Lizer
Walter Kenneth Lizer, 82, of Soddy-Daisy, and formerly of Pecatonica, Il., died on Friday, April 17, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Lizer and his wife moved to Soddy-Daisy in September of 2004. He was a volunteer fireman in Pecatonica for many years. Walter was a WWII US Army Veteran, a member of the VFW, American Legion and Forty and Eight.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marie Lizer; brothers, Ernest, Allen, Donald and David; sisters, Betty and Ruth and daughter, Constance Henning.
Survivors include his wife, Erma Marquette Lizer of Soddy-Daisy; sons, Bruce (Barbara) Lizer of Pecatonica, Il.; Gregg (Shannon) Lizer of Ridott, Il.; Steven Govig and Michael (Judy) Govig, all of Soddy-Daisy and Thomas Govig of Machesney Park, Il.; daughters, Diane Govig of Machesney Park, Il.; and Nancy (Gary) Daily of Lafayette, Ga.; sister, Dorothy Kohl of Pecatonica, Il.; sister-in-law, Eldora Ozanne of Massachusetts; brother-in-law, Vernon (Peggy) Marquette of Missouri, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Deacon Michael Kucharzak as Celebrant.
Additional services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, at Ken Countryman Funeral Home in Pecatonica, Il., with Rev. Amy Poust officiating.
