Willie Mae Murphy
Willie Mae Kirk Murphy, 64, of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, April 15, 2010.
Mrs. Murphy worked in the Chattanooga School System and UTC as a cook and was a member of Stephen Temple Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman Jefferson and Viola Hazelray Jefferson; daughter, Gloria Kirk; sisters, Patricia Smith and Bertha Lee Baskin.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Murphy; sons, Johnny Kirk Jr., Philip Kirk and Cedric (Tonya) Kirk; daughters, Mary (Freddie) Smith and Ernestine Kirk, all of Chattanooga; brothers, Charlie (Mattie) Jefferson and Joe (Stephanie) Jefferson of Chattanooga and James W. Miller of Alabama; brother-in-law, John Baskin; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and many close friends.
Services will be held at Stephen Temple C. P. Church at noon on Wednesday, April 21, with Pastor Ernest Jefferson officiating. Interment will be in National Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon on Tuesday, April 20, with the family receiving friends from 6 – 7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
