Walker County Man, 20, Drowns In LaFayette Lake

A 20-year-old Walker County man died in a drowning incident late Tuesday night.

Authorities said Joseph Alexander "Alex" Strefling jumped into a LaFayette lake with a friend.

When Mr. Strefling did not surface, his friend, Robert Cortez, went down twice to try to rescue him. However, the current was too strong.

The lake is posted for no swimming.
