Here are the City of Chattanooga Parks and Recreation Department activities and events for Oct. 17-23:

Halloween Madness

Haunted Canoe Rides Oct. 21-22
Join Outdoor Chattanooga for a special haunted canoe ride on either Fri., Oct. 21 or Sat., Oct. 22, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Greenway Farm in Hixson. The family oriented trips will include a hay ride and a special, spooky canoe trip on N. Chickamauga Creek. Friday’s tours will feature gentle haunts for adults and kids ages 5 and older. Saturday will offer hair raising screams for adults and older kids. Cost is $8 and includes everything. Cash and checks only. No credit cards. Shepherd Center: Movie under the Gazebo Oct 14 with S’Mores; Senior Adult Time held M-W 11:30-2:30pm; Basketball signups continue! Tyner Recreation Center: Tyner High and Tyner Rec. P.E. Program M-F 12-1pm for teens; After School Help M-Th 4:15-6:15; 40 and over Men’s B-Ball league sign up NOW; Donations of small items accepted each Saturday for the Mental Retardation Association; Adults with dissabilites are invited to participate in arts, crafts, sports, animal therapy, socialization and much more! Public Art Chattanooga:

Public Art Chattanooga (PAC) is pleased to announce The Main Terrain, a new public art project supported in part by an Our Town Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. PAC is seeking qualifications from artists/artist teams for a public art project that will result in the installation of interactive sculptures in a new urban park called The Main Terrain in the revitalized Southside district of downtown Chattanooga, TN. Up to five artists/artist teams will be selected for a short-list phase. This RFQ is open to all established professional artists/artist teams, designers, landscape architects and architects over the age of 18 who currently reside in the United States. Applications must be received by mail, hand delivery or electronically by October 25, 2011, 4:00 pm EST.
