Joyce Carolyn Curtis Hawkins, 76, of Sonoraville, Ga., died Wednesday evening, December 28, 2011 at the Gordon Hospital.
She was the widow of the late Mr. Will Henry Hawkins, Sr. and a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church. She retired as a cook and textile worker.
Survivors are her two daughters, Mrs. Glenda Winston and Mrs. Belinda (Brian) Scott; three sons, Mr. William (Gloria) Henry Hawkins, Jr. and Mr. Cletus Hawkins of Calhoun and Mr. Norris (Lucy) Curtis of Rome, Ga.; sisters and brothers, Mrs. Frances Harvey and Mr. Marvin (Lori) Curtis of Sonoraville, Ga., Mrs. Brenda (Mickey) Harris of Red Bud, Ga., Mrs. Annette (Willie) Williams of Jacksonville, Fla., Mr. Eugene (Joyce) Curtis of Aurora, Col. and Mr. Robert (Sarah) Curtis of Hinesville, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Demond Hawkins, Melita Curtis, Tyre (Melissa) Hawkins, Aja Hawkins, LaTasha Curtis, Ransen Hawkins, Isaiah Curtis and Marisha (Edwin) Higginbotham; ten great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Mr. Hiram (Linda) Hawkins; special cousin, Mrs. Inez (Bobby) Winters; two special friends, Mrs. Ella Phillips and Mrs. Angel Fields; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service for Mrs. Joyce Hawkins will be held Saturday, December 31, at 1 p.m. at the Sonoraville Baptist Church on Highway 53 with Rev. Eric Harris and other ministers officiating. Interment will follow at Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 30 at the Friendship Baptist Church on West Line Street from 7-8 p.m.
