Phil Adkins
Phil Adkins, 55, of Rossville, Georgia, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at a local hospital after a brave battle with cancer.
Although Phil lived with lifelong disabilities he “carried a full cup” with love, patience, and humility, always caring for others and always with a smile.
Phil was born on April 24, 1956, graduated from Red Bank High School, and received his associate's degree in Business from Chattanooga State.
He was an active, lifelong member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga where he was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class, Missions Committee, and participated in the South Wind Play House. Phil also served as an usher and deacon for the church. He loved his church and church family supremely.
His passion in life was caring for his family and friends.
Survivors include his parents, Dr. Thomas and Claudine Adkins of Rossville; two brothers, Tom (Myra) Adkins of Hixson and Steve (Marcia) Adkins of Fort Payne, Ala.; nephew, Tommy (Kim) Adkins of New Orleans, La.; nieces, Mary Adkins of Chattanooga, Christy (Chris) Daniel of Hixson, and Jennifer Adkins of Florence, Ala.; and many other loving family members.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Parkridge Hospital for their love and care during this time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga-Roof Fund, 1505 N. Moore Road, Chattanooga, Tn.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 22, at 1 p.m. at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga with Dr. Gary Carver officiating.
The body will lie in state from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church.
Interment will follow in the Chattanooga Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 21, from 6-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
