Newt Vs. Romney, Let's Be Realistic - And Response

  • Tuesday, January 31, 2012

I am sitting in my office, listening to Rush on the radio via Internet. Many thanks to Al Gore for inventing such a marvelous gadget. Where would we be without the Internet? Enough of that.

The Pundits say Romney is up 7-10 perent in Florida, Newt won't win. I say we don't know. How in the world do we really know what all these people are going to do when they pull the curtain.

Romney. I just cannot trust the man. Newt is looking at the world through big glasses. The man thinks big, really big. If Newt where a Democrat, the mass media would consider him a visionary. He would be the next John F. Kennedy, a man looking toward the future.  They would swoon over him, I guarantee.

I want a President who thinks big, who is not withdrawn because of just of economy restraints. Most politicians want to think little, don't rock the boat.

To consider one of Obama's examples ( he says ), Teddy Roosevelt, "Speak softly and carry a big stick."  That is Newt.

Iran will not test this man, they and all the other wus Islamic Countries will shrink away, fearful of the wrath of the United States, which has been long overdue.

Yes, let's be realistic.  The reality is that Newt Gingrich does not stand a snowball's chance of getting elected.  I am a hardcore conservative which is one of the reasons I contacted the Gingrich organization months ago and literally begged him not to run for president.  The reason?  Because he is utterly and completely unelectable.

Is he intelligent?  Yes.  Is he a great speaker and debater?  Yes.  Is he confrontational and idiocentric and does he lack any ability to bring parties of different views together in compromise?  Yes.   The man is also morally and ethically bankrupt, one of the worst examples of political hypocrisy in history.  He was an "advisor" to Freddie Mac for a paltry $1.6 million while also condemning the agency's actions and policies.  Prior to that, Gingrich had never worked a day in the mortgage or financial industries.  There are literally thousands of more qualified people who could have served Freddie Mac better.

Do we even need to talk about the multiple affairs?  Nothing like parading one's former mistress and current wife around in the latest extravagant bauble from Tiffany's to connect with the working class.  How about the fact that he had to be sued by one ex-wife just to pay child support?  Like many other politicians, he was a draft dodger.  Have you forgotten the House banking scandal?  Newt was one of many who literally treated the house bank as a blank check, bouncing nearly two dozen checks covered by the bank (a.k.a., the American taxpayer.)  This is your idea of a visionary?  Combine all that then throw in the perceived and often reported divisiveness ushered by Gingrich in the mid-1990's and Gingrich is a liberal media's dream GOP candidate.  If I were Obama's campaign chairman, I would be drooling over Gingrich as an opponent knowing I would have a willing media on board with me to perpetually drag Gingrich through the mud without needing to fabricate anything.

Romney is neither truly conservative nor truly honest.  What politician is?  However, Romney, in my mind, is a stepping stone to a decent president after his single term and nothing more.  He is a man who could simply buy us some time until a truly fiscally conservative candidate who isn't a trust fund kid and isn't a darn Harvard lawyer could get into office and actually start undoing the damage done by the Obama administration.  I know he says he would never run for president but Bob Corker seems to be the only guy in Washington who can count.  At least Romney would most likely be a more receptive audience for Senator Corker than Obama has been.
