Bettye Jo Wilson Smith, 81, of Ooltewah, died on Wednesday, February 15, 2012.  

Bettye was a member of Ooltewah Baptist Church where she participated in the Sanctuary Choir, was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and served on the Decoration Committee and the Care Closet.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. Smith; parents, Carl and Lola Wilson and brothers, James L. Wilson and Roy J. Wilson.   

She is survived by her daughter, Carla R. Smith, Ooltewah; a brother, David L. Wilson, Etowah and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ooltewah Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 9, Ooltewah, Tn. 37363. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Ooltewah Baptist Church with Reverend Chris Gaither officiating. Burial will follow in Varnell Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 1 p.m. at the church on Friday.
