Mary Cleo Dempsey, 82, of Chattanooga died on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at her earthly home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Rhea County but lived and grew up in Chattanooga. She was a member of Kings Point Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Wilmoth and Cleo Bankston Parks; brother, Thomas Parks; three grandchildren, Tera LeAnn Dempsey, Jason L. Dempsey and William Earl Rose, Jr.; two son-in-laws, Edward S. Huckeba and Charles J. Davenport.
She is survived by her husband of 63½ years, Charles E. Dempsey, Sr.; Children, Eddie (Debra) Dempsey, Tommy (Beverly) Dempsey, of Harrison, Larry (Lisa) Dempsey, of South Pittsburg, TN., Mary Ann Huckeba, of Pikeville, Tn., Donna (Paul) Belcher and Wanda D. Davenport, of Chattanooga; two brothers, Grant Parks and Melvin Parks; one sister, Imogene Bowman; 12 grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren, with the latest being Liam Dennis born just 14 hours after Mary’s passing; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 2, at 2 p.m. in the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Reverend Tim Marrs officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 1, from 1-8 p.m. and on Monday up to the hour of service at the funeral home.
