Hood, Donald "Gene"

Donald “Gene” Hood, 62, of Apison, formerly of Chattanooga, died on Monday, May 28, 2012 at his home.  

He was born Sept. 7, 1949, a native and lifelong resident of Chattanooga prior to moving to Apison two years ago. 

Gene was a 1967 graduate of Tyner High School and was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran stationed on the U.S.S. Hoist and serving on a river patrol boat.  He was employed with Nappa Auto parts for 20 years and Herb Adcox Chevrolet for 19 years. 

His father, Burling C. “B. C.” Hood, grandparents, Claude and Ted Kaneaster, and Lewis and Viola Hood preceded him in death.  

Survivors include his daughter, Brandi (Dean) Rogers of Harrison; mother, Dorothy Kaneaster Hood of Apison; brothers, Dale Hood and Ted Lamar Hood both of Chattanooga; nephew, Gregory Hood of Apison and great-nephew, Sam Hood.

Graveside services with military honors will be held on Friday, June 1, at 2:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12–2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 8214 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga.
