A Calhoun retiree feels lucky to have won a Georgia Lottery prize. Clide Santos, 74, won $37,777 playing Red White & Blue 7’s.

“I’m just one of the lucky guys,” said Mr. Santos, who claimed his prize Monday.

H&R Calhoun, located at 1090 Red Bud Road N.E. in Calhoun, sold the winning ticket.

Retired from the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Department of Defense, Mr. Santos said he will save his winnings.

Red White & Blue 7’s is an instant game with prizes up to $377,777.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program.
